It’s December, and we assume you are working on sending out some holiday cards, even if only to your friends and family. Whoever you are sending cards to, they are much more fun if you can use a personalized holiday photo. But where can you take them? Here’s a few ideas…
There are lots of wonderful restaurants and hotels in San Diego, and all over the world I am sure, where you can go to take a photo. Dress up in seasonal clothes, get the family, or your work team, together and find the nicest tree you can. There will be plenty of others doing the same thing and you can t
ake pictures for each other.
If you are in business, you can even use this as a networking opportunity if you play your cards right! (Excuse the pun.) The advantage with that option is that you can take nice photos with as many people as you like.
There is another option if you have children: take them to see Santa in your local department store and take a photo of them sitting on Santa’s knee. Those pictures are so perfect to show your family and friends how much your children have grown in the last year, and with Santa, as well as the decor, they are even more seasonal.
However, you will probably not be able to get the whole family in the shot so parents will miss out. There is, in San Diego at least, a fantastic solution to all that, and it is my favourite for holiday photos all round. From Sunday 7th September, Santa and his elves will be at Ferry Landing in Coronado every day and you can get a professional photo taken with them with as many other people as you want.
It’s not just for kids, but adults too. There is a professional photographer and he will take several shots and then the images get posted on facebook and you can download them from there at your hearts content. You will need to take note of the time the photos were taken, and you will be given all the details you need to access the page.
Even though they are casual outside shots, the fact that the photographer and camera are professional really makes for a good quality picture. Bear in mind that the photographs will be quite different in daylight than at night, so decide what ligh
ting you prefer before you set off. And a word of warning: if you go during prime times, the line will be long. Having said that, there are cookies and coco to keep you energized and plenty of things to keep children amused including a real snow mountain they can clamber on, so they won’t get bored.
Of course if you are not living near enough to San Diego to make a trip down here worth your while, I am sure there will be plenty of local events where you can have fun with your family and get some really good photos for your holiday cards as well. Do an internet search for your area, and I’m sure you can find plenty of local events to capture a quick picture for your holiday cards as well.
If you are really stuck, there’s always good stock photo sites you can turn to for nice graphics and pictures. Be sure you do NOT violate copy right laws and download something from the internet you did not either receive permission to use, or buy from a credible royaltyfree stock photo site.
