If you are a Realtor or Real Estate Agent you know the importance of following up. If you have read Gary Keller’s book “The Millionaire Real Estate Agent” then you will know that ideally you will reach out 33 times per year to everyone on your list, and you will use a combination of media to do that. Keller recommends using emails, flyers, brochures, newsletters, greeting cards, articles, calendars, promotional items, telephone calls, property alerts and more.
We would like to focus your attention on the greeting cards in that list, and this is what we suggest you might like to send out on an annual basis. In fact if you send a card a month to each household on your list, to stay in touch with them, it will dramatically increase your referral rates. We have calculated some figures for you below, based on sending out the following the cards:
- 2 birthday cards – one to each partner or spouse, and consider including birthdays for children or pets as well
- 1 anniversary card – could be for a wedding or the date house was bought, or even the date a pet moved in
- 1 mother’s day card – those who are not mothers, have mothers, or might be mothers to pets
- 1 father’s day card – those who are not fathers, have fathers, or might be fathers to pets
- 1 holiday card – could be Christmas, Hanukkah, Season’s Greetings, New Year
- 2 or 3 special event cards celebrating an important life event like a child’s graduation, new family member, new pet, sympathy card, passing a driving test, get well, family wedding
- 3 or 4 occasion cards for holidays like President’s Day, Valentines Day, St Patrick’s Day, Easter, Memorial Day, 4th July, Halloween, Rosh Hashanah, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving.
- 1 or 2 thank you cards which might be for a referral and which should include a gift specially if there is closed business from that referral.
And you might want to send brownies for an anniversary, the holidays, a birthday or just for fun as well.

Photos, Handwriting and Branding
